White Fused Alumina (WFA) is obtained from the fusion of high purity calcined alumina in electric arc furnaces. WFA is raw material characterized with high hardness, yet friable with high purity, chemical stability, a high melting point, and large crystal size.

According to the applications, WFA can be divided into refractory & ceramic grade, abrasive grade. Abrasive type holds the largest market share. In 2018, about 447.6 K MT abrasive grade WFA was consumed globally, while refractory & ceramic grade accounted for the remained 43.89% share.

The production of white fused aluminum is mainly concentrated in China. In 2018, China contributed about 59.96% production market share.

China is not only the largest producer of WFA, but also the largest exporter. In 2017, nearly 220 K MT white fumed aluminum was exported to different countries. Some Asian countries, such as Japan, Korea are the major importers of China-based WFA.

Europe and Asia are the key consuming regions of white fused aluminum. The two regions consumed about 83% share globally.

The global market for white fused aluminum was valued at 780.98 Million USD in 2018. Considering its distinctive advantages as well as the demand downstream industry, the market size of WFA is predicted to be 1036.12 Million USD in 2025, with CAGR of 4.12% from 2018 to 2025.
